South Korea Squad: Ahn Jung Hwan Earns Recall For Ivory Coast Friendly

South Korea have recalled Ahn Jung-hwan for their March 3 friendly against Ivory Coast in London.

With both team’s preparing for the 2010 World Cup, the match is a vital one.

South Korea are looking for tough African tests ahead of their Group B match with Nigeria in June while Ivory Coast are preparing to face North Korea.

Ahn, now 34, was a hero of the 2002 World Cup when he scored the goal that eliminated Italy and also hit the winner against Togo in Germany four years later.

The striker, now playing in China with Dalian Shide, hasn’t featured for the national team since June 2008.

Coach Huh has called his European-based stars such as Manchester United’s Park Ji-sung, Lee Chung-yong of Celtic and Bolton Wanderers favourite Lee Chung-yong.

AS Monaco striker Park Chu-young is recovering from a hamstring injury while fellow attackers Seol Ki-hyeon and Yeom Ki-hoon are injured.

As well as Nigeria, South Korea will take on Argentina and Greece in Group B.
