South Korea's Ahn Jung-Hwan Gunning For Ivory Coast

RecalledSouth Korean striker Ahn Jung-hwan is ready to step in and help his team against Ivory Coast on Wednesday and at the 2010 World Cup in June.

After an absence of almost two years, the Dalian Shide attacker has been summoned by coach Huh Jung-moo for the friendly at London’s Loftus Road Stadium.

The hero of the 2002 and 2006 World Cups is ready to show that he deserves to play at a third World Cup.

“Personally, I am very happy to return to the national team. I want to prove my worth to the team and show what I can do. I want to help the team and will do my best to show my ability.” Ahn told the Korean media.

“At the moment, I am at about 80% of my peak condition but that is expected as the Chinese Super League has not yet started.

“My role is to change the flow of the game. Even if I am on the pitch for a short time, I will try my best.”

Ahn may join up in attack with Lee Dong-gook against the African team and he wants to work with the Lion King to down their fellow World Cup qualifiers.

“It is not about competing with Lee Dong-gook, we should help each other. If we play together against Ivory Coast, I will do my best to help Dong-gook score rather than score myself," Ahn said.
